The Art Nouveau movement was an art deco movement that emerged at the end of the 19th century. It opposes the traditional decorative style and advocates inspiration from oriental art, especially the Japanese ukiyo-e decoration style, while advocating "returning to nature" .

Mucha's works have both distinctive New Art movements and strong personal touches. The early style of Mucha’s posters, decorative paintings and other works are characterized by rhythmic decorative lines, simple contours and soft and bright watercolor effects. In later years, Mucha transforming the style into giant oil paintings, integrating themselves with the destiny of the country and the times, making the works rich in eternal vitality.
