During the week-long Spring Festival (or Chinese New Year), Guandu Ancient Town of Kunming has witnessed thousands of temple fair goers, and dragon and lion dances by folk artistic troupes from around Kunming. Passing acquainted Grannies-who go for the temple fair-will say, when asked, good lucks will come to you one after another if you watch the traditional dragon and lion dances as the Year of Dragon kicks off.

Sugar art, Dian Opera show, local products and folk handicrafts exhibition, and intangible cultural heritage show etc may well be the biggest draws as the Lantern Festival (15 lunar January;6 February) nears.
