Fumin is a typical agriculture county in Kunming, with the cash plants, vegetables and flowers accounting for about half of its economy. Fruits are available all the year round including strawberry, cherry, red bayberry, grape, apple and peach etc, among which the red bayberry is the most famous.

In each May or June when red bayberries are ripe, a festival is held dedicated to the seasonal fruit, coupled with assorted programmes such as cultural performance, food experiencing and picking fruits in orchards etc.
