Kunming Zoo called home by mongooses

The Kunming Zoo has recently welcome new family members which include 14 mongooses (from Africa), red-necked wallabies, fennec fox and two-years-old giraffes etc. (Photo by Yang Yanhui)

 

As one of the Top 10 Zoos in China, Kunming Zoo covering 26 hectares was first established in 1953 and has been called home by 200 kinds of rare animals from both Yunnan (China) and the world. 

 

The Yuantong Mt where the zoo is situated is famous for the blooming Sakura flowers in March, and at its southern foot is the Yuantong Buddhist Temple that has enjoyed a history of 1,200 years. 

The newly upgrading
So far, the Zoo is being upgraded to be as an AAAA-level scenic site of Kunming. The new visitors centre which is Gothic will be put into operation in October. 

 

The best time for visit
(1)-March for blooming Sakura flowers
(2)-On weekends the zoo is normally frequently visited.
