Jinri Tower

The imposing and magnificent Jinri Tower originally built in the Yuan Dynasty is dubbed as "The Tower near the Sun" in the past. Also called Lizheng Gate, it was on the north-south axis line of the old town of Kunming and the south gate of Kunming. Like Jinma Archway and Biji Archway, it is the symbol and pride of Kunming City. In the Qing Dynasty, the Yunnan-Guizhou Governor renamed Lizheng Gate as Jinri Gate and the tower was thus renamed as Jinri Tower.
